FIRE BROKE OUT AT CONCORDE INN NEAR KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Hotel is closed temporarily to its guests
9 August, 2016 – Fire broke out at the main block of Concorde Inn Kuala Lumpur International Airport, no injuries and casualty was reported in the incident.
The fire was detected near Crossroad Lounge at 3.45pm this afternoon by a hotel staff. All guests and staff at the nearby areas were quickly evacuated.
The fire damaged the hotel lobby, reception desk, reservations office, all day dining Melting Pot Cafe and meetings room facilities. All 338 guest rooms are not affected by the fire as they are located on a separate building from the main block.
“We are making the necessary arrangements for our guests staying at the premises to relocate to other hotels,” said Mr. Hanis Shariff, General Manager of the hotel. “It’s very fortunate that none of our guests and staff were hurt in the incident.” Shariff also thanked and complimented his hotel staff for the calm and professional manner with which they dealt with the situation.
Although the Fire Department extinguished the fire in the affected areas, repairing the water and smoke damage in the areas will necessitate temporary closure of the hotel’s daily operations.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
